Specialized Tax Office uncovered illegal gaming

Last two weeks the Specialized Financial Office performed in the area of the Capital of Prague and the Moravian-Silesian Region an extensive control-search action aimed at illegal gaming operations. This time the purpose was not only searching for illegal quiz-machines (“kvízomat”),but also to identify other forms of illegal gaming, including card games tournaments.

Nearly 70 specialized employees of the state supervision checked more than 1,000 addresses. Twelve business premises run as “private clubs” and disguised as the unincorporated associations with 15 illegal quiz-machines and other similar gambling machines were uncovered in Prague. Another 50 illegal quiz-machines were found in other places, mostly restaurants in the Moravian-Silesian Region and in Prague.

The control findings are going to be discussed with keepers of the illegal gambling premises. Detected violations of Act on Lotteries will be penalized up to the maximum possible amount of CZK 10 million.

Similar controlling actions are going to be carried out continuously throughout the whole Czech Republic. Illegal gambling facilities that operate under the auspices of unincorporated associations are going to be subjected to thorough controls of the state supervision authorities in cooperation with the Police of the Czech Republic.
